Friendship and inspiration. That’s what I got out of this episode. Time is moving quickly through the series, even if the pace of individual events is slow.

This is the first episode where things happen. The story still hasn’t caught my interest, but at least things are moving along for the characters.

Miu’s father not knowing certainly who Yuuki is suggests either Miu isn’t childhood friends with her, or Miu’s father is so busy with work that he knows little to nothing about Miu’s life. The latter would be understandable to the extent that he puts so much time and effort into his job, as evident in always working late on his wedding anniversary, and the all-nighter this episode.

The opening shows Miu in two different school uniforms. First year then second year middle school uniforms? Or winter and summer of the same year? I’d assume the latter if they looked more alike. I get the impression the opening follows Miu and her family over a short span of time leading up to the start of the series.

It’s nice to have a DVD without commercials at the opening.

I think this is the very first series I’ve watched where the opening and ending themes didn’t have any impression on me whatsoever. If anything, the opposite was true, with some of the higher notes sung with the ending theme. The opening theme felt like random scenes put to classical music, rather than making the two work together.
