Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok Episode 6 Commentary

Now here’s an episode which kept my interest the whole way through. I expected Heimdall would use the necklace to channel Freya into Reiya in some way, only to find the adorable little Reiya is Freya. I’m not sure how Loki recognized her, but I’m sure her being a goddess made it easy enough. Yamino felt fear when Narugami looked upon the wooden sword, only to have Yamino learn Narugami is actually Thor.

Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok Episode 5 Commentary

I don’t know Norse mythology, but mention of Frey brought to mind the name Freya. So, the two are siblings, and there’s something with Loki and Freya, something Frey disapproves of. Could Loki have been a bad guy, Freya having fallen for him, and Frey wants to ensure they don’t get back together?

Why is Loki going around exterminating evil, anyway? Does he expect to come across answers as to why he was banished, or to find a way back home? Or could he have been banishes for doing something evil, and this is his way of atoning for his sins?

Forget Realism, Let’s Have Some Magic

Over at Borderline Hikikomori, Crisu writes about attempting a lecture on mahou shoujo. To this, Damien Kellis of Moe Check! responds with a piece on shoujo versus shounen. Considering that I’ve spent over four hours over the past two weekends working on an unfinished, content-light Cardcaptor Sakura post, I’m thoughtful on which magical girl series I’ve seen and enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy), and why.
