The dummy plugs are meant to allow the Evangelion to be activated without a pilot inside. A success means no more need for pilots. A success means the ability to continue if anything happens to the pilots, and they are no longer able to pilot an Evangelion. Surely there’s more to it.
Ritsuko looks to be becoming increasingly suspicious of Gendo and his work. She knows more about things than Misato knows, but that just suggests the amount Ritsuko may be in the dark on.
You’ve gotta’ feel bad for the class rep, with Touji not noticing her, and instead asking Shinji to accompany him to Rei’s home. Rei, on the other hand, is taken by surprise to see Shinji has cleaned her place up for her. She’s slowly showing increasing amounts of expression, perhaps of emotion.
The lead up to the next pilot seems quite obvious. It can only be one person, because only one person would be called out of class about it. Touji has a lot to think about. And his sister’s still in the hospital. He has a lot to think about, and the class rep doesn’t know what’s being gotten into.
