Hedgehog’s Dilemma
Rain, After Running Away
Shinji is the Third Child, and there’s a Fourth Child not yet found. Rei must be the First Child or Second Child, but what does this mean? And how is such a child selected? Why a 14 year old child? This series sure does know how to slowly let out one mystery after another, giving the viewer something to ponder over from episode to episode.
With the world in a state of slowly restoring, it must have been the impact from the aliens which set it off course in the first place. I mistook that the polar ice cap melting was the intended reason. There may be no telling how many aliens landed in the impact, nor has anything been said on whether they were full-sized during impact, or small and grow to their current size. If any were small, young back then, then that would have been the time to do something about them, unless older, larger ones were protecting the rest until they had time to grow, fifteen years.
I’m not sure what my opinion of the series is so far. It gives a lot of things to wonder about. The pace is slow. The character interaction is fairly dull. I’m used to seeing series with generally upbeat characters, so this is definitely a change of pace.
Shinji’s personality is all over the place. He does what he’s told, but then he’s cocky. He acts based on what he’s instructed, but he runs away. He returns, or rather is returned, and he quits. Now he’ll be back, but what will his actions be after all of this merry-go-rounding?
Hedgehogs remind me of Saint Tail.

“Why a 14 year old child?”
I’ll give you a hint; it’s not how old they are, but WHEN they are conceived in the womb.
Count back the years, and you will know.
