The episodes are officially in the phase of “follow the characters from day to day without worrying about a plot right now”, but this episode did give a good look at Frey, and his interactions with others. He only had trouble in school because he was competing at every corner. If he weren’t out to get Loki, Frey’d probably be friends with Loki and Thor. Considering Mayumi’s always with the latter two, it’s surprising that Frey doesn’t switch sides.

Narugami is always struggling to earn enough money to get by, yet Frey and Heimdall get buy with no difficulties portrayed. Fray does do bargain shopping, but then he orders a lot from specialty shops which are probably much more expensive than buying similar items from a grocery store. Does he simply sneak around as Mystery Thief Frey until he’s gathered enough money to get by?
With Frey spending so much time with Heimdall, maybe Heimdall will lighten up a little. Their time together reminds me of Prince Zuko and his uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender, a duo of a bad guy and a good guy, where the good guy knows the bad guy can be good if only given the right direction. With Frey, however, he’s oblivious to a lot going around him, and it’s that simpleton nature that has a chance to soften Heimdall.
Mayura’s not the only one who’d been wondering about the connection between Loki and Yamino, but it was suprise to find out Yamino was Loki’s son all along. The older Loki doesn’t look old enough to be a father, and what’s with him and Freya if Loki’s already a father and everything? ‘course, I guess there’s nothing keeping gods and goddesses from having children with multiple others. It nicely put together Yamino’s story about Midgarsormr in the opening, and the scene with the adult Loki and Midgarsormr.
Even though Heimdall’s plan was obvious, it still made for an enjoyable episode. You have to feel bad for Frey, though, watching him with fliers, looking for his sister. He gets so close, then loses her again without even knowing he had almost found her. I await his reaction when he learns Heimdall was poisoning her with evil through her necklace.
