Hi – I was looking to buy CCS DVDs but had some troule deciding WHICH ones to buy. -.-; So many choices…

Eh… after reading this review (I was actually going to but this one just before that), I thought I’d look for the Anime Studio release instead. Not sure about the translation quality (‘unreadable to decent’ had me a little worried there) but from the pictures you posted at least the quality of the video should be really good!

So thanks for writing all these up – they were extremely useful!

Thanks for the comment, Asuka. Just one more bootleg left to do a write-up on, and I’ll have all the main bootlegs written about. Just have to actually get around to is, as the last one to write should be the best of the bootlegs…

It’s good to see that you’ve finally done these bootleg comparisons. Thank you! Even though I’ve now bought the first CCS boxset (and still snooping around for the second, just like you had predicted), your summaries are very helpful for those looking to get this awesome series.

If you can play all the episodes without any errors, and if you can work through the English subtitles, then I'd say you got about the best you can get with both video quality and English subtitles considered. My next review actually is un-started, so hopefully this weekend I'll work on it. Here's the cover, which has much higher quality artwork for the box and especially the DVDs, visually comparable with the remasters' DVDs. As for the "Leave It To Kero!", I would be suprised if you couldn't find it on YouTube or somewhere; I don't think you're missing out on anything, but it's nice to have. I think only about the first 30 or 50 episodes have the segment at the episode ends.

Ah, here’s the bootleg I have…at least, I think. The DVD and DVD cases are different – I don’t have a picture handy but I’ll post it up when I get my camera, but it’s 8 DVDs stored in 2 cases of 4.

The menus are the same and there’s an “Anime Cartoon” splash screen on my DVDs so that’s what makes me sure they’re the same. Good to know I picked the ‘better’ choice (so far) back when I was too young to know why these were so cheap. XD I do miss the “Leave It To Kero!” though.
