Writing Priorities

One of the numerous reasons I started The Pink Sylphide was to get myself to write more often. For a good length of time, it served that purpose well. It also helped me analyze more thoroughly what I’m watching. In the last year and a half, however, I’ve taken up photography as another hobby. This cuts into my time for my other hobbies.

Sakura’s Name and the FLY Card

Back in early 2007, Damien Kellis wrote:

Here, also, there’s a rather glaring plot hole that will become clear in episode 4: Kero-chan tells Sakura to try using the new Fly card, before Sakura writes her name on it. But I suppose there’s some No-Prize answer out there; after all, it’s MAGIC.

This is really belated on my part, but I think I filled in the plot hole. I was re-watching episode one of Cardcaptor Sakura today, and had a thought:

Sakura’s Pajama Collection

My original post on Sakura’s cardcaptor apparel involved the pink pajamas she wore when capturing her second Clow Card, before Tomoyo stepped in to provide costumes. Throughout the series and movies, Sakura is shown in 13 different pajama outfits, made up of 10 different styles.

Little Nemo and the Umbrella Tree

With an adaptation like Little Nemo in Slumberland, it’s nice to see the source material that inspired bits of the animation. Regardless of the amount of time and effort and all the mishaps that went into getting the movie project started, the end result shows that the people behind it were either fans of the original coimc, or took the time to read through the original comic, or at least flipped through the original comic for anything that stood out.

Janggeum’s Dream: Episode 29 Commentary Redux

The title I had for this episode on my first viewing was “Occurrence at the Agricultural Festival“. The Korean is 선농제에서 생긴 일, or “seonnongjeeseo saenggin il”. The agricultural festival in the episode is called Seonnongje. I wonder why the title was rewritten as “Hwan Yun the Young Warrior” for the English subtitles.
